Former JCD girls basketball coach Meyers, 87, passes

OSGOOD - Former Jac-Cen-Del and Lawrenceburg girls varsity basketball coach Maurice Meyers passed away at age 87 on May 28 in Shelbyville. A 2011 Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association Distinguished Service Award recipient, Meyers was an inductee to the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame.

Homemakers celebrate achievement night

The Ohio County Extension Homemakers met Thursday, April 22, at the Ohio County Public Library with 17 members, Ohio County Extension Educator Shannon Chipman, and seven guests attending. The theme was “Memories – Living in the Time of Covid 19.” Salem Hilltoppers Club took care of registration.

‘Inspire’ free to Indiana residents

Staff at the Ohio County Public Library know that knowledge is power and they have shared an opportunity with the community. They wanted to make the public aware that all residents of the Hoosier state have free access to many databases through the Indiana State Library’s “Inspire.” In order to gain access, you must have an email account.

Sorority selects officers for next year

Phi Beta Psi sorority, Theta Lambda chapter, met on Monday, May 17, at The Ohio County Public Library. President Pat Kinnett called meeting to order with members reciting the Sorority prayer. There were 11 members present.

Service remembers life of Tom Reid

A memorial s ervice for Tom Reid, 80, was held at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ on June 5 With a packed congregation of family and friends. Tom Reid passed away on Tuesday, Nov.

Main Street hosting Golf Cart parade

Rising Sun Main Street will host its annual Independence Day Golf Cart parade on Saturday, July 3. Prizes will be awarded for the top four decorated golf carts.

Dear Editor: Once again over this Memorial Day weekend we remembered and honored all of our fallen veterans buried in the Rising Sun Cemeteries. American flags were placed for all of our fallen veterans in the three cemeteries.
