Mountain Mission truck picking up in May

The Rising Sun United Methodist Church will once again be collecting items for the United Methodist Mountain Mission Truck, May 14-18. Use cardboard boxes, because they stack much easier than bags in the back of the trucks and the cardboard will be sold for gas money.

Legion and auxiliary celebrating Poppy Day

The Rising Sun American Legion Auxiliary Post 59 will host Poppy Day on Saturday, May 8. Anyone interested in helping share poppies with the public can come to the Legion Post at 8:30 a.m.

Taylor (twice), RS boys relay winners at L’burg

LAWRENCEBURG - Rising Sun junior Grant Taylor won a pair of individual events, while the Shiner boys 4 X 100-meter relay team finished first again in track and field trimeet competition, with Switzerland County, at Lawrenceburg Tuesday, April 20.

Softball Shiners sweep South Decatur twinbill

RISING SUN - With Wednesday’s conference showdown with league leader Switzerland County (9-0, 5-0 ORVC) looming amid a busy schedule this week, Rising Sun softball extended its win streak to 5 games with Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of visiting South Decatur.

Man arrested in Sunday morning shooting

Harrison Police arrested a man for reckless homicide on Sunday following a shooting that killed Antonio Rogers, 20, of Cincinnati. According to a press release from the Harrison Police Department, officers responded to The Shaker Point Apartments at 10:55 a.m.

No virtual learning next year as district plays catch up

There will be no virtual school next year for Southwest Local School District students. Students will return to face-to-frace learning when school opens in August, with the exception of students in the invite-only Wildcat Academy, according to Southwest Local Schools Assistant Superintendent Corinne Hayes.
