Garden club stays busy with projects

Shaker Farms Garden Club is in full swing this spring with two fantastic programs. Brenda Manger started the 2021-22 garden club’s year with designing your gardens on April 28.

June Events and Classes Harrison Branch Library UMC Food Ministries The Harrison Branch is partnering with UMC Food Ministries this summer to distribute UMC Meal Boxes for Youth (18 years of age and younger unless on an IEP). Shelf-stable and ready to eat meal boxes contain seven dinners and seven snacks.

Standoff ends in death

A man is dead after a SWAT situation in Harrison June 15. Police were called to the Best Western on Comfort Drive at around 11 p.m.

Liquor with breakfast?

The Bob Evans at 618 Ring Road in Harrison has applied for a liquor license. According to the Ohio Department of Commerce, Bob Evans is currently on the wait list for D1 and D2 liquor licenses which would allow the restaurant to sell beer, wine and mixed beverages.

Dearborn County 4-H participants and their show animals are rearing to get back inside the ring following the lifting of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions which forced fair organizers to host the event virtually last year.

Rain, wind pummel Dearborn County

Clean up is still underway, and will be for some time, after heavy rain and winds this weekend. Reports of more than 7 inches of rain pounded the county, closing roads for a time.
