Police chief presents fourth quarter stats

Rising Sun’s Police Chief Rodney Rimstidt presented his department’s statistics for the fourth quarter and 2020 totals at the meeting of City Council Jan. 7.

School utility bill decreases

The Rising Sun Ohio County Community School Corporation learned it saved money on its utility bill. Superintendent Branden Roeder told the school board at its December meeting the corporation’s utility bill was $75,000 less than it was at this time last year.

Getting Protected

Ohio County offered its first round of COVID-19 vaccinations Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Rising Sun Church of Christ. The first shipment of 100 Moderna vaccines were offered to residents 80 years and older and frontline healthcare workers. Spots for the vaccinations booked quickly and were administered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two weeks.

Mondary retires after 27 years with city

For the past year, Dee Mondary has been training a new employee to fill his shoes as the wastewater and water treatment operator for Rising Sun. After almost 30 years of loyal service, Mondary gets to hang his hat and relax.
