Schools want help in opposing legislation

Those that live in southern Indiana are fortunate to live in communities with strong public schools. This has been no more evident than this past year when our schools have been consistently open for business during a global pandemic. We have strong educators that are highly qualified in their specialized fields of academics to provide rigorous instruction preparing students for their postsecondary future whether it be the workforce, college, technical school, apprenticeships, or the military. Other critical services of support such as transportation, meals, supplemental academics for those in need, counseling/social-emotional guidance, career and technical certifications, early college courses, full range of fine arts, clubs/activities and athletics are provided by the public schools within our communities. Approximately 96% of all Hoosier students attend public schools.

Women are empowered to succeed

National Women’s Month, right? That’s nice. I saw a notice this morning for “important” women in Indiana history – there were only three mentioned! Dearborn County has Women of Distinction and I celebrate each of them and their contributions to our local culture.
