Run For The One 5K for adoption
Be The One will host a 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, May 22. The purpose of the 5K is to raise funds for the organization which assists adoptive families.

Dairy cattle, livestock judging moves to state
The Area 1 Dairy Cattle Judging and Livestock Judging CDE was held in Decatur County on April 10. East Central’s FFA Chapter had two teams that participated in dairy cattle judging.

EC washes away competition at Wildlife CDE
Eleven members from East Central High School FFA chapter competed at the Wildlife Habitat CDE Regional Qualifier at Southeastern Purdue Agricultural Center in Butlerville on April 10. Members identified preserved animals, took a written exam, and evaluated wildlife habitats.
Library hours back to normal
Lawrenceburg Public Library District will return to regular hours beginning Monday, May 3. The Main Library will be open 9 a.m.
Hospice help needed
“Our volunteers are the heart of our ministry and it is because of them that we are able to provide complete services to our patients,” said Rev. Patti Warning, chaplain and volunteer coordinator at Loving Hearts Hospice in Lawrenceburg and serving Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio and Ripley counties.
Ind. 56 to get chip, seal
Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews plan to begin chip seal operations in early May on Ind. 56 in Switzerland and Ohio counties. Work will take place from near Walnut Street in Vevay to Glen Meadow Drive in Rising Sun. Crews were scheduled to start as early as Monday, May 3, weather permitting.
Lane closing on Ridge
Effective Monday, May 10, through Friday, May 21, there will be intermittent lane closures from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Ridge Avenue near the MPGI of Indiana (old Seagram’s) buildings for building maintenance.
Volunteers are needed
The Bright Volunteer Fire Department will lead the Jamison Road cleanup on Saturday, May 8. Volunteers are invited to join in the effort in support of the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative.
