Willie Joseph Werning, 92, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022. He was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Rheine, West Germany, son of the late Herman and JoAnna (Walter) Werning.

Willie was a veteran of the U.S. Army during Korea. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was an avid woodworker making numerous items especially pictures out of wood (Intarsia) and he enjoyed gardening. He worked as a cabinet maker.

He is survived by his three sons, Willie (Kathleen) Werning of Aurora, Indiana, Richard H Werning of Aurora, Indiana, Matthew (Machelle) Werning of Aurora, Indiana; six grandchildren, Shawn Werning, Remington Werning, Sterling Werning, Robinson Werning, Sarah Werning, Eric Werning; and five great –grandchildren, Ava, Lyam, Oliver, Alister, Josie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Carl Werning, mother, JoAnna Maria Werning, wife, Maria Werning, and sister, Katie Wellerman.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at 11 a.m., with Father Daniel Mahan officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
