RUTH SUTTON

 Ruth Sutton of Logan Township passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 95.
 She was born on January 11, 1929, in Logan Township, Ind., to the late Harry and Mary Belle (Clark) Lyness. Graduated from Bright High School class of 1946. Married Thomas Sutton on September 5, 1952, and together they were blessed with two children: Mary Ann and Mark. Ruth worked for Department of Energy at Fernald and then worked at INTECO as an executive secretary. She enjoyed her job and the people she worked with. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Europe, Haiti, Brazil and everywhere family and friends wanted to go. Ruth also enjoyed mowing and caring for her yard. Her true calling was traveling to Haiti to help at the Children’s Nutrition and Training Center. The last time she went was when she was 85. Ruth enjoyed being a grandma to all the children in Haiti teaching them how to sew, celebrating birthdays, and teaching the children about God and his love for all of us.
 Ruth was a lifetime member of Dearborn Hills Church and was active in the women’s groups and missions work.
 Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Sutton (1983); parents Harry and Mary Belle (Clark) Lyness; brother Harry “Pete” C. (Vivian) Lyness; sister Mary Jane (Charles) Smith; brother-in-law LeRoy Jeffries.
 Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Ann (Bob) Cannon and Mark Sutton; grandchildren, Joshua (Hannah) Cannon, Laura (Brian) Keith, and John Cannon; great-grandchildren, Frances “Frankie” Cannon, Evie and Calum Keith; step-great-grandson Kyren Keith; and dear sisters, Anna Jeffries and Janet (Howard) Eckler.
 Visitation will be held at Dearborn Hills Church, 25365 Stateline Rd, Bright, IN 47025, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Gibson Cemetery in Bright.
 Memorial donations in honor of Ruth may be made to the Hearts and Hands for Haiti. A funeral home representative will be available to assist you with your donation at the services.
