Russell E. Thorpe Jr., 83, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away at home on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 9, 1939, in Aurora, Indiana, son of the late Russell and Laverna (McCool) Thorpe.

Russell graduated from Aurora High School in 1957 and served in the Army Reserves until 1964. He retired from Schenley Distillery after many years and was also the co-owner of McDaniels Grocery along with his wife. Earlier in life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf with his buddies. Later, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing games on the computer.

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Helen Thorpe; daughter, Reni (Kevin) Conrad; grandchildren, Martin Ginn, Brad (Becca) Conrad, Allyson (Cody) Varney; great grandchild, Eleanor Ginn; siblings, Pamela (Bill) Gates, Carole Kadetz, Georgetta Eggleston, Jodi Roark, Shirley Razor, Mark (Karen) Thorpe; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Laverna Thorpe; siblings, Mary Jane Donathan, Jerr Thorpe, and a daughter Lee Ann Thorpe.

Per his request there will be no services.
