Richard H. Stenger, 92, of Whitewater Township passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce C. Stenger (née Ray), with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage.
Born January 22, 1933, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, Richard was the son of the late Eugene P. and Catherine (née Ott) Stenger. He grew up in Colerain Township and attended school at St. John the Baptist, where his deep Catholic faith took root and shaped the course of his life.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, then built a meaningful career as a union plasterer and homebuilder. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands, tending his garden, and spending time outdoors-especially fishing. But more than anything, he was devoted to his family and to serving others.
A longtime member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Harrison, Richard gave generously of his time and heart. He served for many years with St. Vincent de Paul Society, regularly distributed communion to shut-ins, and was always quick to care for anyone in need. His quiet strength, faith, and compassion left a lasting impression on those blessed to know him.
He is survived by his children: Diane Dunivant, Daniel (Renae) Stenger, Brian (Christina) Stenger, Mark Stenger, Vincent (Katee) Stenger, and Deborah McCrary; grandchildren: Christina (Michael), Lauren (Jake), Simon, Fennton, Gina, Kevin, Valerie, and Danielle; and great-grandchildren: Jade, Jett, and Lucia. He is also survived by siblings Marge (Franz) Wilke, Susan (Dick) Mack, and David (Susan) Stenger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, brothers Jim and Tom Stenger, and sisters Rita Baily and Cathy Humbert.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Harrison, Ohio, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery. www.braterfh.com.
