Philip Michael Harmeyer of Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the age of 81. Born August 25, 1942, in Bright, Ind., he was son of the late Ervin and Ruby (Smith) Harmeyer.
Phil was a longtime EMT and founding member of the Bright Life Squad. He was a volunteer fireman, Hidden Valley Lake Ranger, and retired from a career as a control room engineer at Indiana and Michigan Power. He enjoyed hunting, reading, watching westerns, and was a gun collector. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and was a member of Bright Christian Church congregation.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Williams Harmeyer of Lawrenceburg; son, Kevin Harmeyer (Kelly Pritt) of Bright; daughter, Teresa Harmeyer (Mark Baxter) of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Ramona (Harmeyer) Green of Bright; two granddaughters, Megan Harmeyer, Cori Harmeyer; close friends, Danny Haire of Greendale, Ind.; Bill Sess of Lawrenceburg; and many nephews and other close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Ruby Harmeyer; sister, Rebecca (Harmeyer) Emery; brother-in-law Kenneth Halcomb; and brother-in-law Eldon Green.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Bright Christian Church Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Edens officiating.
Interment will follow in Gibson Cemetery, Bright.
