PEGGY LEE DAWSON

Peggy Lee Dawson, 91, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus Sunday, November 17, 2024.
She is survived by her daughter Sue, daughter Vicky (Mike) Tepley, grandson Alex (Hunter) Tepley, bonus daughter Anne (Scott) Dawson, sisters Joy McAdams and Donna (John) Yost. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Esther Blasdel, her son Scott Dawson, and her husband Clyde Dawson.
Peggy was born October 1, 1933, in New Alsace, Ind., and attended Guilford School. After she graduated, she worked as a bank teller and in the office at Seagrams.
She married Clyde on November 3, 1956, and was a stay-at-home mom to her three children. After her children were in school, she worked as an aide for ROD, then moved on to East Central High School to work in the reading lab. She loved children and gave many devoted hours to so many. It was not uncommon for her to have grown men approach her and say “Mrs. Dawson, do you remember me?” and proceed to give her a big hug.
She left the classroom to become an administrative assistant for Doug Holland Law, where she spent the final 27 years of her career. They lovingly referred to her as “mom of the office.”
Peggy and Clyde were dedicated grandparents when Alex came along. They spent many summers on the beach at Kiawah Island, S.C., with Alex, Vicky and Mike. They attended many sporting events and even made a few trips to UC to watch Alex cheer.
Peggy participated in a bowling league as a young mom and also played in a softball league. Sports were not her strength, but sewing was. She was an avid sewer and quilter. She made lots of clothes for herself and her kids and many quilts for family members and friends. She also loved her flowerbeds and starting plants. Often times you could find her out watering or pulling weeds. Her peonies and hydrangeas were her favorites.
She was a great hostess and welcomed many, many friends of her children into her home. She met even more friends when she and Clyde traveled to see her children in their various cities. The two most spoken words about her were “Your mom is so sweet,” and “Your mom is so pretty.” She truly was so sweet and always pretty.
Peggy also had a great sense of humor. Although sometimes slow to catch on to a joke, she managed to make people laugh, sometimes by her laughter, which could turn into tears and a little asthma attack!
She enjoyed just being with her children, watching TV or movies. In her last years, she became a huge Hallmark movie fan, as well as a Big Bang Theory fan. But no one could make her laugh harder than Tim the Toolman Taylor on Home Improvement!
She truly fulfilled her calling as mom. She was just that to so many and she will be terribly missed by her family and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. with Tom Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Ind.
