The Rising Sun Ohio County Community School Corporation learned it saved money on its utility bill. Superintendent Branden Roeder told the school board at its December meeting the corporation’s utility bill was $75,000 less than it was at this time last year.
Ohio County offered its first round of COVID-19 vaccinations Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Rising Sun Church of Christ. The first shipment of 100 Moderna vaccines were offered to residents 80 years and older and frontline healthcare workers. Spots for the vaccinations booked quickly and were administered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two weeks.

MILAN - Rising Sun girls basketball started a 3-game road swing last Tuesday, Jan. 12, with their first Ohio River Valley Conference win of the season.
The Rising Sun High School cheer squad is selling alumni gear to raise money for its club. Health restrictions due to COVID-19 prevented the girls from being able to conduct their usual fundraising events, such as their annual princess night, bake sales, face painting, their camp for elementary-aged kids, and their in-person alumni night.
