Council OK’s Main Street project

At its February meeting, the Rising Sun City Council approved to proceed with the beautification and revitalization project on Main street. The project includes 16 tree boxes with trees, 16 benches, and 30 waste can lids.

Review points out pros, cons of city

Rising Sun officials recently participated in a River Town Review workshop via a Zoom conference call with the National Park Service, Ohio River Recreation Trail, and other agencies. Those representing Rising Sun included David Hamilton of Ohio County Tourism, Jamie Bell of the Parks Department, Lane Siekman of Economic Development, and Cliff Thies of the Ohio County Historical Society.

Winter brings cancellations and fun

Recent winter weather has been daunting for some. Students are on their fourth snow day and counting. The Ohio County Board of Commissioners closed the county courthouse, and the public library did the same. COVID vaccinations were even put on hold until the weather cooperated enough to make road conditions safe.

REMC donates to community, expands scholarship program
