Month honors strength, ambition, courage

Each year, March is designated as National Women’s month with a special presidential proclamation to honor the achievements of American women. This celebration began nationally in 1981 with a week in March being declared as Women’s History Week. In 1987 a new bill was passed which proclaimed the entire month of March as Women’s History Month which helps to celebrate the contributions women had made in a variety of fields.

United Way offers more COVID relief grants

Southeast Indiana nonprofits can apply to United Way of Greater Cincinnati Southeast Indiana for a second round of funding providing relief to residents dealing with COVID-19 issues. The relief is made possible by a $300,000 COVID-19 Economic Relief Initiative Grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.

New Greendale police chief

Shane Slack, 44, has been promoted to police chief of Greendale effective March 6. Slack has been with the Greendale force since May 2020; before that he worked for the Aurora police from 2004 to 2020.
