Donation to help restore old coal office

A grant application from Ohio County Historical Society and Museum has been submitted to the Indiana State Historical Society, according to society director Cliff Thies. Thies requested $7,500 to help restore an old coal office saved from destruction and placed at the museum.

Easter bunny available for photo opps

Angie’s Baker’y is collaborating with the non-profit organization Kaitlyn’s Hope to provide a free Easter event for families. The Easter bunny will be hopping his way to the Baker’y on Saturday, April 3.

Month to celebrate strength, ambition, courage

Each year, March is designated as National Women’s month with a special presidential proclamation to honor the achievements of American women. This celebration began nationally in 1981 with a week in March being declared as Women’s History Week. In 1987 a new bill was passed which proclaimed the entire month of March as Women’s History Month which helps to celebrate the contributions women had made in a variety of fields.

City Hall reopens for public use

Mayor Steve Slack recently announced that City Hall and Rising Sun Municipal Utilities offices are open to the public as of March 5. Although appointments will no longer be required, they are strongly urged for safety reasons.

TIGERS’ PARRIS TO ST. FRANCIS

Lawrenceburg football senior Ethan Parris, joined by parents Laura Parris-Smith and Josh Smith, committed to continue his career at the University of St. Francis, in Fort Wayne, shortly after the Tigers’ 11-2 EIAC 3A Division and sectional championship season ended last November. Currently playing a postponed spring schedule, USF’s Cougars, an NAIA member program, are a 2-time national champion (2016-17) who compete in the Mid-States Football Association. LHS ATHLETICS
