Two men were honored at the state level for their community service. Jim Dole and Larry Black both received awards from the American Legion Department of Ohio.

Wanda Marie (McQueen) Combs

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Wanda Marie (McQueen) Combs was reunited with her loved ones to rejoice with Christ in Heaven. Wanda was known by many as a “character” with a self-proclaimed “fat and sassy” attitude. She was a woman of faith, strength, patience and fortitude. Her quick wit, contagious cackle and warm smile with those twinkling blue eyes were the first and last things you would remember about her. As her youngest daughter, what I remember are the many nights she spent kneeling at the side of her bed praying for her children, her friends, family and her church.

The Aurora City-Wide Clean Up will be Thursday April 22, through Saturday, April 24. The cleanup will be restricted to Aurora residences only; an Aurora utility bill must be provided or you will be subjected to dumping fees.

Bus routes change due to three road projects

Road closures in Dearborn County will impact bus routes for Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools. Jamie Shartzer, transportation supervisor, informed the Sunman-Dearborn School Board at its April 8 meeting of bus route extensions and upcoming road closures.

Few attend mass clinic, but doses not wasted

The mass vaccination clinic did not go as planned, but it’s not as bad as it sounds. Only about 250 people showed up Saturday, April 10, at the clinic in the old bank building on Wilson Creek Road.
