Seminar goes over leadership, law for high schoolers

The Leadership in Law seminar is set for July 19-23, according to Dearborn County Judge Sally McLaughlin and Dearborn County and Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens. Last year’s seminar was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, “Leadership in Law has been a great experience for area students for the past 12 years,” McLaughlin said.

Alumni wanted for annual dinner

The 2021 Rising Sun Alumni Association committee members are looking for graduates of the classes of 1996 and 2011. The group does not have addresses for all of the members of these classes and need assistance reaching everyone to invite them to this year’s alumni dinner.

Everything may have been a little topsy-turvy for over a year, but members of the Southeastern Indiana Art Guild (SIAG) have had plenty of time to create new art work for their annual all member art show.

New place to stop for ice cream

Everyone was excited when they found out Rising Sun would be getting a new ice cream shop. Vintage Scoops opened in February 2020, just before the global COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Historical Museum needs help

Researchers at the Ohio County Historical Museum are hoping that the public can aid them in securing some important information. The names listed below were found on the Star of Many Points blocks featured at the recent quilt exhibit.

Judy Courtney publishes cookbook at urging of grandchildren

Lifelong Rising Sun resident Judy Courtney, who will be 78 in just a few days, has published a cookbook containing 250 of her most sought after recipes. Titled “Favorites From My Table: From Judy’s Kitchen,” the book was published by Morris Publishing Company, which specializes in cookbooks.

Getting rid of, and selling, unwanted items
