The Wall That Heals will get a unique escort when it comes to Harrison. On Tuesday, June 8, motorcyclists from all over will guide the wall from Versailles down U. S. 50 eventually ending at J.T.M. in Harrison where it will be on display June 10-13.

The ‘Laddies’ of Lawrenceburg

In an early photograph the Lawrenceburg volunteer firemen called “Laddies” are poised and ready for a parade in front of the old Bank of State and Redman’s building. Large trees block the view of the Miami Fire Co. No. 1 at Short Street, the Lawrenceburg firehouse. The building to the left of the firehouse was a one-story building where the old post office building now stands; the next building was the home of Edstal Boone Gully.

Students take on bridge building in STEM challenge

Students in Jennifer Warren’s fifth-grade class at Manchester Elementary School participated in a STEM activity where they built a bridge out of pennies. The students were required to build the bridge using only pennies.

The Rising Sun United Methodist Church will once again be collecting items for the United Methodist Mountain Mission Truck, May 14- 18. Use cardboard boxes, because they stack much easier than bags in the back of the trucks and the cardboard will be sold for gas money.

Foundation’s grant supports Alzheimer’s groups

The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF) Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 proactive grant to the Alzheimer’s Support Groups of Southeast Indiana Inc. that will be used to improve the quality of life to residents in 10 regional nursing homes.
