Curtis Eugene Franklin, 81, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was born November 13, 1939 to Custer E. and Lulu E. (Campbell) Franklin in Milan, IN.
Curtis graduated from Aurora High School in Aurora, IN, in 1957. He faithfully served our country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Oahu, HI, and Okinawa, Japan, from 1963-1965. Curtis married Nita J. Schuler, on November 27, 1965, at the First Baptist Church, in Aurora IN. Immediately after their marriage, Curtis and Nita moved to Belvidere, Illinois, where Curtis was offered and had accepted a position as a pipefitter for Chrysler Corporation. He worked for Chrysler for 30 years. Upon retirement, Curtis and Nita moved to Englewood, FL, where Curtis enjoyed watching sports and fishing with his friends and son-in-law. Curtis and Nita moved to Mesa, AZ, in 2004 to get away from hurricanes and spend time with their son and granddaughter.
Curtis is survived by his wife Nita Franklin; his daughters, Dr. Tammera Kiefer (Dan), Athens, GA; Tawna Thompson, Englewood, FL, Terresa Kinna (John) Janesville, WI; and his son Chad Franklin, Gilbert, AZ; his brother, Dr. Carl (Dr. Jeannie) Franklin, Black Mountain, NC; his brother-in-law, John Schuler, Aurora, IN; his sister-in-law, Glenda Hoffmeyer, Greenfield, IN; his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and one granddaughter.
