Angela “Angel” Engel, of Harrison, passed away on Oct. 19, 2022, at the age of 75.
She was born on July 9, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Lonnie and Gladys (nee Dunaway) Wash. Angel raised her four children: Paul, Joe, Kathy and Todd. She was a hard worker and was always there for her children.
Angel married Donald Engel on Feb. 15, 1992. She worked at Lakes Sporting Goods for many years. After retiring Don and Angel enjoyed summers on Lake Erie, with much of their time boating and fishing. In the wintertime, they traveled to Florida. Angel enjoyed beating everyone at Wii bowling and playing the penny or nickel slots at the boats. If she was watching TV, it was a Reds game or the Hallmark movie channel. She also enjoyed listening to country and bluegrass music. Sending cards was very important to Angel. She always remembered to send one with a crisp $20 bill for every family member’s birthday and anniversary and she would make sure it arrived on the date or early – never late!
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Donald Engel; children: Paul H (Wendy) Toney Jr., Joe (Fawn) Toney, Kathy (John) Cross, and Todd (April) Toney; stepchildren Cindy (Joe) Toney, Cathy (Mark) Schutte, and Donnie (Cassie) Engel; cherished grandchildren: Isaac, Andrew, and Leah Toney, Zach (Laurie) Aulbach, Miranda Aulbach, Sonny Toney, Dustin (Angel), Danielle, Alicia and Austin Dilbeck, Tristan Roberts, Michael and Ryan Anderson, Joey Toney, Tammi (Chris) Waite, Jenny (Lloyd) Sexton, Michael and Jake Schutte; great–grandchildren: Marshall Aulbach, Chelsea Dilbeck, Hunter and Isabella Alfano, Everest McGuire, Madison and Tyler Waite, Leo, Vincent and Raylan Sexton. Also survived by her dear sister Sandy Pittman.
Angel was preceded in death by her parents; previous husband: Paul H Toney; siblings: Shirley Smith, June Wright, Pat Jones, and Tom Wash.
Graveside service will be held at Glen Haven Cemetery on Nov. 5, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Life following at American Legion Post 199, 10700 Campbell Road, Harrison, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
