Many taking advantage of early voting

Maybe the line to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5, won’t be so long. Many people have already cast their ballot for the Nov. 5 election.

The Hamilton County Board of Elections is reporting the turnout as of Monday is pushing a record. Early in-person voting in Hamilton County is being conducted at the board’s office in Norwood. It was reported that at some points during a day, all of the cubicles used for voting were being used.

In Dearborn County, County Clerk Wendy Beatty said as of Monday, Oct. 28, they have in 7,353 ballots. That includes: 6,228 who have voted at the courthouse or on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Aurora Fire House, and Dearborn Hills Church; 42 people have cast a traveling ballot, where employees of the clerk’s office visit nursing homes and homes of voters; the county has received 1,072 of 1,526 ballots sent out via mail, with 454 mail ballots still out; and 11 overseas ballots, those going to mostly the military, with 16 still out.

The county has a little more than 40,000 registered voters.

In Ohio County, as of Monday, Oct. 28, there have been 1,008 ballots cast, out of 5,281 registered voters.

The main race this year across the country is obviously the presidential race. But there are several local elections in Dearborn County and the Harrison area to draw people out to the polls.

In Dearborn and Ohio counties, early voting continues at the county courthouses until Monday, Nov. 4.

Voting in Lawrenceburg is taking place on the second floor of the Dearborn County Administration Building on Mary Street from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. this week; and 9 a.m.-noon on Monday, Nov. 4.

Early voting is also open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the courthouse, at the Aurora Fire House, and Dearborn Hills Church.

In Rising sun, the hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. this Thursday and Friday; and 8:30 a.m.-noon on Monday, Nov 4.

In Hamilton County, early voting is at the Hamilton County Board of Elections at 4700 Smith Road, Norwood. To find out where you vote on Election Day in Hamilton County, go to https://votehamiltoncountyohio.gov/ and select Find Your Polling Place.

There are 12 vote centers in Dearborn County this year, all will be open from 6 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Any registered voter may vote at any one of these locations.

There are two voting centers in Ohio County – at the Rising Sun and Ohio County Senior Community Center, 510 Mulberry St., and the Ohio County Highway Garage, 5851 Woods Ridge Road. Both are also open from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
