She served in the Coast Guard as a SPAR (Semper Paratus – Always Ready) in World War II. A lover of music, she was one of the Harmonettes, a Sweet Adelines quartet. Her humming was recognizable to many.
L’Jean was a resident at the Archbishop Leibold Home for the Aged, Little Sisters of the Poor. The family is forever grateful for the care she received. She was known as spunky, and fun-loving, a consoler with her heart and words.
She always said she “lived every day” of her life. In her final days she was surrounded by family and was able to hold her newest great-grandson. She will be greatly missed but will shine down on us all and keep us safe and smiling, sending us little signs that she’s always with us.
When I feel the sun, I will feel your warmth
When I hear the wind, I will hear your hymns
When I feel the rain, I will feel you wiping away my fears
When a snowflake lands on my nose, I will feel your kisses
When I see a twinkling star, I will see your eyes smiling down on us.
