Leo C. Kittle, 99, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away, at home, Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023.
He was born May 8, 1924, in French, Ohio County, Indiana, son of the late Carl R. Kittle and Katharine (Libbert) Kittle.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army in World War II.
Leo worked for Seagram’s Distillery, retiring after over 45 years of service. He farmed for most of his life and still had his father’s very first tractor.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora. Leo was a very devoted member of the church where he served as a deacon, trustee and all-around handyman. He belonged to Farm Bureau, serving on the board of directors of the co-op and the credit union. He was a Dearborn County 4H leader and member of the FARM Club of Southeastern Indiana.
Leo enjoyed traveling with the family; he has been in 48 states in the United States and also in a few other countries. Leo and his wife spent their winters in Alabama. He and Evelyn have celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Leo is survived by his loving spouse Evelyn (Hilker) Kittle; sons, Bruce Kittle of Franklin, Indiana, Jerry (Kathy) Kittle of Thorntown, Indian, Steven (Diana) Kittle of Aurora, Indiana; grandchildren, Carl Kittle, Carrie (Robert) Deckard, Joanna (Austin) Scott, Douglas (Brittany) Kittle, David (Ariel) Kittle, Jonathan Kittle, and Rachel Kittle; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, George Henry Kittle of Rising Sun, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Katharine Kittle; siblings, Floyd Hastings Kittle, Lucy Ann Dausch, Doris Marie Jacobs, Martha Louise Kittle, and Mary Katharine (Bunger), Mitchell.
Friends will be received Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Aurora, 6060 Blair Road, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Kittle officiating.
