Laura Mae Brooks, 85, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was born September 21, 1938, in Lawrenceburg, daughter of the late Emery and Bonnie (Hynds) Knippenberg.
 Laura was a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School. She attended Ivy Tech where she took classes in business management and computers. She enjoyed playing games on her computer. She loved to travel and also going shopping and having lunch with her friends. She always liked working in her flower garden.
 She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (George) Hiett; dear friend, Jean Montgomery; three grandchildren, Trae (Mel) Hiett, Traci Hiett, Andy Hiett; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her little Yorkie, Suzee-Q.
 She was preceded in death by her father, Emery Knippenberg; mother, Bonnie Knippenberg; husband, Orville Brooks; brother, Major Knippenberg; sister, Millie (Harry) Brown; and her nephew, Mike Long.
 Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Russell officiating.
 Interment will follow in Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Ind.
