Joyce Ann (nee Steinberger) Kater of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away on January 31, 2025, in St. Petersburg at the age of 95. Joyce was born on October 8, 1929, in Springfield, Ohio, to Chester and Jeannette (nee Budd) Steinberger. She graduated from Ohio State University with a BA in Speech in 1951. Joyce married Guilford C. “Dan” Kater on August 7, 1952. Joyce was an amazing woman that enjoyed the arts from directing and acting in plays to writing, directing and producing plays. Over the years, she was always very involved in the communities she lived. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Guilford C. “Dan” Kater; parents and sister Constance Bair. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving sons: Christopher (Shelley) Kater and David (Laura Leyden) Kater; cherished grandchildren: Geoffrey (Karen), Thomas (Nicole), Kelley (Tim) Via, Timothy, Jennifer and Hannah Kater, and Damon Begeman; beloved great-grandchildren: Alexander and Emily Gover, Lucian and Gabriel Henderson, Devon and Avalon Begeman, Brooklyn and Charlotte Via and John Christopher Kater. Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, Harrison, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 12 p.m.
