Here are events, some in-person and some virtual, at the Lawrenceburg Public Library: Yin Yoga (virtual) 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, 17 and 24, YouTube (virtual) Yin Yoga is a gentle stretching practice involving seated poses that are typically held for 3 to 5 minutes.

Website connects Hoosiers to local products

Indiana Grown recently launched the Shop Indiana Grown online marketplace connecting Hoosiers directly to local vendors and products, according to State Rep. Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison).

Chaney named to Dean’s List

Mercede Chaney, a senior business administration major from Harrison, has been named to the Dean’s List at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. Students must be enrolled full time and meet academic criteria set forth by the university to be named to the dean’s list..

Kerth makes President’s List

Anna Kerth of Harrison, a student at Davis & Elkins College, has been named to the president’s list for the fall 2020 semester. The president’s list includes all fulltime students with a 4.0 GPA for the semester.

Youth orchestra celebrating 5 years

In February of 2016, the Southeast Indiana Youth Orchestra (SEIYO) launched its inaugural semester. The vision for the orchestra grew out of a desire to provide an opportunity for students in Southeast Indiana to develop their musicianship through a strings orchestral program, which otherwise did not exist in our community. With the beginning of eight students that has grown to nearly 30, it offers an affordable music education to students of all ages as well as an inexpensive instrument rental program which includes basses, cellos, violas and violins.

Manchester students take virtual trips

Students in Jennifer Warren’s fifth-grade class at Manchester Elementary School learned about ecosystems and the roles organisms play in different ecosystems. The class was able to obtain the Google Expeditions kit to explore different ecosystems and describe how different organisms are able to thrive in each area.
