John “Jody” Joseph Litchholt III, 66, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away on February 13, 2024. He was born to parents John Joseph Litchholt II and Patricia “Pat” Litchholt (Fitzgerald) on May 14, 1957, in Jersey City, N.J.
He graduated from Raritan High School in 1975 and went on to study Biology at New Jersey City University.
John worked as an engineer in research, design, and development and retired from Proctor & Gamble in 2022.
He enjoyed time with his family, the game of soccer, and venturing to new restaurants and dives that he could find.
He had a love for the outdoors. His “green thumb” allowed for a beautiful landscaping project wherever he lived. John was always excited to catch the new fantasy/sci-fi movies that came out. From Batman, Avatar, to Star Wars and Star Trek you could always bet he would have his wife tag along to see every one.
He invested a large amount of time within the communities by training and coaching youth soccer in the surrounding areas. His passion and goal was to help develop southeast Indiana within the sport to gain exposure and access to rural communities. He was largely connected to coaching and training with SAY soccer programs (Hidden Valley Lake, Lawrenceburg, Dillsboro), select soccer (Tri-State Futbol Alliance), and high schools (Lawrenceburg High School, South Dearborn High School, and Franklin County High School).
John met Susan Ann Gilmour (Holbert) in 1987. They were married on November 25, 1989, in Greendale, Ind. Together they raised three children: Cody Gilmour, Roxanne Litchholt, and Torrin Schmaltz.
John “Jody” Litchholt is survived by Mother “Pat” Litchholt, his siblings David Litchholt, Susan Taylor, Pattiane Menden, wife Susan Litchholt, daughters Roxanne Litchholt and Torrin Schmaltz, and son Cody Gilmour. He is also survived by his grandsons: Tyler Gilmour 26, Aiden Gilmour 20, Sebastian Gilmour 19, Crue Gilmour 15, granddaughters: Isabella Gilmour 17, Jacqueline Gilmour 11, Everly Gilmour 7, Journey Schmaltz 2, and great-granddaughter Wynona Gilmour 3.
A private celebration of life to be held at the family’s discretion on a future date.
