JANIS LYNN (NEARY) BOSCHÉ

Janis Lynn (Neary) Bosché, 75, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in O’Fallon, Ill. Born in 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Wanda (Giffin) and Sylvester “Dutz” Neary, she attended Aurora High School and later earned a BA in English and Education at Indiana University and an MA in Education at Xavier University. After teaching middle school for several years, she spent much of her career in the insurance industry before returning to her true passion of teaching, finishing her career as a substitute teacher and reading specialist for young children.
Jan resided in Orange County, Calif., for many years, lovingly raising three children who survive her, Giffin (Jolene) Bosché, Kerry (Amber) Bosché and Lauren (Finley) Freibert. She was adored by her grandchildren, Luke, Jack, Henry, Clark and Goldie Bosché and Leslie and Callum Freibert, to whom she was their devoted and caring Nana. Jan is also survived by her siblings Dennis (Nancy) Neary, Carol (Richard Thurman) Neary, Nita (Gary) Duechle and Lee Anne (Mark) Givan, and nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to her family, Jan’s heart was her home of Aurora and the lifelong friends she made in childhood and college. Memories of boating and waterskiing on the Ohio, teaching childrens swim lessons, and lifeguarding led to an enduring love of the water. She honored and passed along her own parents’ attention to courtesy, generosity, and care for families in need.
Please join us for a memorial service honoring Jan’s life on Saturday, June 8 at 10 a.m. followed by visitation 11:30 a.m. to 1 pm. Service and visitation to be held at Veraestau Historic Site in Aurora, Ind.
