Harry Dean Brown, 68, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. He was born on March 7, 1957, at Ft. Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. Harry grew up in the Bright, Ind., area alongside his two brothers. He attended East Central High School and, shortly after graduating, married and welcomed twins, Heather and Harry.
Harry held various jobs throughout his life but dedicated most of his career to roles at Elco Chemical and Wild Flavors (now ADM), specializing in product development and quality control.
A country man at heart, Harry found joy living with his beloved wife, Judy, on 10 acres overlooking the scenic Laughery Creek valley. Their home was a hub for family gatherings, cherished by children and grandchildren alike. Harry had a deep love for animals, especially his cats and dogs. He was also a passionate collector of firearms and Spiderman memorabilia and he enjoyed experimenting with artwork in his spare time.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife of over 40 years, Judith Brown; his children, Harry Brown Jr. and Heather Brown; his stepchildren, Lisa (Michael) Laugle and Terry Herbers; daughter-in-law, Debbie Herbers; his brother, Steven Brown; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Nelson Brown and Dorothy Mae Beard; his brother, Mike Brown; and his stepson, Rick Herbers.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, 455 Ridge Ave, Greendale, Ind., on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. to honor and remember Harry’s life.
Interment will follow on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Ind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
