Gerald Bowell, 79, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023. He was born Sept. 22, 1943, in LaPorte, Indiana, son of the late Bowen and Madeline (Corey) Bowell.

Gerry enjoyed fishing and anything outdoors … especially the trees. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Teacher for Lawrenceburg Schools where is was a six-time Teacher of The Year Award winner and was inducted in the Lawrenceburg Coaching Hall of Fame. He started the middle school football program and also the Lawrenceburg High School wrestling program.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Bowell of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; two sons, Ty (Michelle) Bowell of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Doug (Kris) Bowell of Apple Valley, California; two sisters, Alice (Ernie) Terry-Oyler of Cleveland, Tennessee, Myra Thompson of Los Angeles, California; five grandchildren, Austin (Ashley) Bowell, Conner (Morgan) Bowell, Madeline (Jonathan) Rollins, Morgan (Megan Cremona) Bowell, Chase Bowell; and four great-grandchildren, Beau Bowell, Waylon Bowell, Wyatt Bowell, Dawson Bowell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bowen and Madeline Bowell; and his brother, Glen Bowell.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tanner Valley United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at Tanner Valley United Methodist Church, Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ginny Hizer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
