GEORGE JOSEPH MILLER

 George Joseph Miller, 82, passed away peacefully in Harrison, Ohio, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, surrounded by his family.
 Born to John “Cliff” and Laura (Laird) Miller on May 2, 1942, in Batesville, Ind., George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He lived a full and meaningful life dedicated to his family, friends, and community.
 George was married to his beloved wife Gwen (nee Fehrman) for 59 years. He was the proud and loving father of Greg (Terri Bennett) Miller, Glenn Miller, Gloria (Todd) Huegel and Georgeann (Eric) Doan, and a devoted grandfather to Jessica and Thaddeus Olson, Elise and Allison Doan, and Grace Miller. George was a loving brother of Mary (Eddie) Payton, who preceded him in death, and Margaret (Jerry) Bussey.
 George grew up along the banks of the Ohio River in Aurora and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Aurora High School in 1960. George served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
 George demonstrated a strong work ethic throughout his many years of employment that culminated in his retirement following more than 20 years at Monsanto/Bayer. George had a passion for his community and his church. He served as treasurer at First Evangelical United Church of Christ in Aurora and with the homeowners association of Three Mile Ridge in Lawrenceburg, where he and Gwen lived. He spent a number of summers as a church camp counselor and coaching minor league baseball. George spent many hours volunteering at the Lawrenceburg Public Library District. His impact on the lives of others will never be forgotten.
 Visitation will be held at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, on Friday, November 22, 2024, 4 – 6 p.m. A celebration of George’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Aurora, 6060 Blair Road, followed by interment at River View Cemetery.
 The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lawrenceburg Public Library District and P.A.W.S. of Dearborn County Humane Center.
