Garland W. Fields, 81, of Sunman, Ind., passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in Milan, Ind. Born May 9, 1942, in Manchester, Ky., the son of Oscar and Mabel (Bowling) Fields.
 Garland married Carol Stone on July 5, 1972, in Manchester. Garland worked as an Inspector for Hillenbrand, Inc. in Batesville, Ind., for many years.
 Survived by his loving wife Carol Fields. Father of Karen (Grover) Powers and Brande (Randy) Issler. Grandpa of Gabby, Amy, Mason, Desirae, Kia, and Zac. Great-grandpa of Ava, Sawyer, and Dexter. Garland is also survived by his siblings Oscar (Roberta) Fields Jr., Patty Featherbay, Donna (Lonnie) McCarty, and his daughter-in-law, Taresa Tharpe.
 Preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Mabel Fields, son Luke Tharpe, and siblings Betty Chaney, Pam Gabbard, Jane Faye Walker, and Joe Fields.
 Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Rankin and Deacon Ernie Powell officiating, all at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. A burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery in Harrison.
