Donald Lee Folke, 78, of Covington, formerly of Lawrenceburg, Ind., passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. Born on November 22, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Alvin and Mabel Folke.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Donald honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service extended beyond the military, as he was a committed Shriner and Freemason, living a life of integrity, loyalty, and generosity.
Donald had a successful career as a supervisor with Indiana Michigan and Electric, now AEP Electric, where he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication to his colleagues.
Above all else Don cherished his family. He moved up to Covington for the last two years of his life to be closer to his son. He developed a close bond to his daughter-in-law and grandchildren, often going to watch them play sports or taking boat rides on the river.
He was a father to Angie (Doug) Gleason and Brad (Laura) Folke, and a loving grandfather to Emily and Sarah Gleason, Blake, Ava, and Ella Folke.
Donald will be remembered for his kind heart, witty spirit, and deep love for his country and family. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, service, and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North at the convenience of his family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and his friends of Celebration Villa of Highland Crossing and also the wonderful doctors and nurses with the VA home based Bellevue location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans in honor of Donald’s commitment to his country.
May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be missed.
