Clara Eileen “Beanie” Rumsey passed away at the age of 91 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

Eileen was born on Thursday, March 10, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of August and Clara (Bryan) Piening. Eileen married the love of her life, Francis “Frank” “Gene” Rumsey, on April 2, 1949, and he preceded her on Jan. 6, 2018. She attended Seton High School before moving to Indiana.

She worked at Seagram’s and later worked at Dearborn County Hospital as an aide. Eileen was a long-time member of Holman Christian Union Church. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and birdwatching. She loved being on the farm and loved her home. Eileen most of all loved her family.  

Eileen will be missed by her daughter Donna (Ralph) Larimore of Aurora; son Donald (Irine) Rumsey of Guilford; sister Charlotte (Charlie) Homer of Cincinnati; brother John (Sandy) Piening of Harrison, Ohio, and sister-in-law Ada Courter of Anderson; grandchildren Aaron (Michelle) Rumsey, Elizabeth (Tom Gaughan) Larimore, Virginia Larimore, Bradley Rumsey, and Kristin Rumsey; great-grandchildren David Denny, and Liam Rumsey.  

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents August and Clara Piening; husband Francis “Frank” “Gene” Rumsey; her son, David Rumsey, and five siblings.  

There are no services at this time. Her body has been donated to science at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Memorials may be given in honor of Eileen to Holman Christian Union Church and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
