CHARLOTTE LUCINDA COLEMAN

 Charlotte Lucinda (Miller) Coleman, 91, of Aurora, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on August 24, 1932, in Knox County, Ind., Charlotte and her younger sister Roberta grew up on a farm and attended Oaktown High School. There she met the boy from the next farm over who became the love of her life, Dexter Coleman. Shortly after they married in 1953, the couple moved to Ft. Smith, Ark., for Dexter’s Army basic training. Charlotte became a mother with the birth of daughter Denise when they were stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas.
 After completing his service at Fort Huachuca, Ari­z., the family returned to Indiana, first moving to Vincennes, where they welcomed two more children, Rhonda and Stephen. They later lived in Huntingburg where Charlotte embraced her role as a homemaker and was an active member of Dubois County Homemakers. Dexter and Charlotte have lived in Aurora for the last 31 years.
 Charlotte loved to travel in their homey fifth wheel. She and Dexter were officers in the state and local chapters of Good Sam Club. They visited almost every state, stopping at national parks and monuments whenever possible. Travel highlights included the Rose Bowl parade and the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Charlotte especially loved their three Alaskan adventures.
 A talented seamstress, she also loved to crochet and do ceramics. Known in the family for her delicious baked treats, Charlotte’s grandchildren could hardly wait to eat her creamy fudge, made only at Christmas in the special fudge pan.
 Charlotte is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dexter Coleman, daughter Denise Schinella (Mike), daughter Rhonda Meyer (Dan), son Stephen Coleman (Jan), grandchildren Sarah Dyer, Patrick Meyer (Katja), Eric Schinella, Emily Schinella, Phoebe Coleman, great-grandson Logan Dyer, nephews Wade (Chris), Trent (Dana) and Wesley. Predeceased by her sister Roberta Jones.
 Memorial service to be held at future date.
 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
