South Dearborn Middle School eighth-grader Brayden Hurelbrink has been named a recipient of an annual National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award. Recognizing the need to help middle school students jump-start their quest toward higher education, the National Junior Honor Society offers the annual NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award to all active members.

Sidney Thatcher murder trial begins

140 Years Ago Saturday, May 14, 1881 About 6:30 o’clock last Monday morning, a fire broke out in the second story of the carriage shop of Paul Hirschauer on Walnut Street, between Third and Fourth streets, and the building was burned, together with three dwelling houses belonging to Babbs & Stewart, George Miller, and Mrs. Rech, all adjoining the shop.
