New Eagle Scout
Boy Scout Troop 605 had an Eagle Scout ceremony for Robert Michael Bailey at his grandmother’s house , Debbie Cole, at Abeerdeen on June 18. It was attended by a lot of friends, relatives, and Boys Scouts. Bailey earned the required 21 merit badges for Eagle and 10 more merit badges for two Palms to be put on his ribbon. The Eagle badge was presented by Scout leaders Ken Alwin and Michael Macku with his grandparents present, Jim Cole and Debbie Hayes Cole.
Outdoor fires in Aurora OK, with limits
You can now have an outdoor fire, provided you use a fire pit or other container, in Aurora. City Council OK’d an ordinance June 14 allowing outdoor burning between noon and 1 a.m.
Shiner Pride Band Car Show marks 25th anniversary
Dear Editor, The 25 th Annual Shiner Pride Band Show Your Pride Car, Truck, and Bike Show will be held on Sunday, July 11. There will be no spectator admission fee for the event, and we would like to invite everyone to come down and enjoy the great cars, wonderful food, and our beautiful riverfront.
SD non-teachers, subs getting raises
Non-teaching staff in the South Dearborn Community School Corporation are getting a 6% raise. The total amount is about $230,000.
Departments say thanks for grant
Dear Editor: The Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks Department and the Rising Sun Street Department would like to thank the Ohio County Community Foundation for the $500 grant that we received to assist in the purchase of four pet waste stations that will be placed along the River Front walking trail. These pet waste stations will provide more access to areas where pet waste can be discarded.
Greendale wants to join Main Street association
Greendale is working to become an Indiana Main Street community. A team has been working on the lengthy process before the city can apply to the state Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), said.
