ST. LEON - Sophomore Dylan Martin will represent Rising Sun in today’s (Thursday) IHSAA boys track and field regional by merit of third and fourth-place finishes in both of his hurdles events last Thursday at East Central High School.

OSGOOD - Back-to-back conference wins over Switzerland County and Madison Shawe last week had Rising Sun baseball making noise about jumping back into the ORVC race. But a 6-5 cliffhanger loss at Jac-Cen-Del Friday night may have ended the Shiners’ slim title hopes, leaving Coach Kevin Wirsch’s club at 7-9 overall and 5-4 in Ohio River Valley Conference play - good for fourth place with 3 league contests left this week.
RISING SUN - Two ORVC blowout wins last week - 13-3 at Jac-Cen-Del Wednesday, May 12, and 19-0 at Madison Shawe Friday - followed by a 1-0 home nailbiter over Switzerland County Saturday put Rising Sun softball into first place.
VEVAY - Four Rising Sun athletes earned all-conference honors as Ohio River Valley Conference track and field champions in the league meet Tuesday, May 11, at Switzerland County High School. Shiner thinclads registered a pair of fourth-place team finishes in both genders of the ORVC Championships, contested for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 spring season.

But Coach Kevin Wirsch’s Shiners (5-8, 3-3) took a hit with their second-straight ORVC setback 2 nights earlier, at home against Southwestern (Hanover), with 3 errors helping kick away an 11-6 loss.
