Franklin College graduates Three Dearborn Countians took part in Franklin College’s 2021 Commencement on Saturday, May 22 in Stewart “Red” Faught Stadium on the Franklin College campus. The college conferred 194 The college conferred 194 undergraduate degrees and 25 graduate degrees.
Ten East Central High School FFA members competed in the Indiana FFA Nursery/Landscape Career and Leadership Development Event on April 24 at the Central Nine Career Center in Greenwood. Members participated in a number of categories such as landscape estimating, identification of plants, pests, disorders, equipment and supplies, a general knowledge test, plant propagation practicum, verbal customer assistance and a plant layout practicum.
Youth Ambassador awards Graduating Youth Ambassadors each received an award of $250: East Central High School – Peyton Lyness, Griffin Werner, Sam Kirchgassner, Ryan Bond, Reid Cleery; and South Dearborn High School – Kaitlyn Baker. Love makes honors Abbigail Love of Aurora qualified for the Abbigail Love of Aurora qualified for the spring 2021 Dean’s List at Belmont University.
Aurora Elementary fourth-grader Coleton Pettit won the National County Government Week essay contest for the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) Southeast District and SRI Inc. Pettit’s essay was chosen over entries from other fourth graders across the district.
U of Evansville honors The following students earned Dean’s List Honors for the Spring 2021 semester at the University of Evansville: Lillieann Oelker of Greendale, studying biology Lauren Rabold of Lawrenceburg, studying political science and ethics and social change To merit the honor of being placed on the Dean’s List each semester, a student must carry a full academic load of 12 hours or more and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Bluffton graduate Katie McCord of Lawrenceburg, earned bachelor’s degrees in early childhood education and intervention specialist from Bluffton University..
SEI Communications has announced the recipients of its 2021 scholarship program to high school graduates in the communities it serves. SEI serves portions of six counties in Indiana – Jefferson, Jennings, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio, and Switzerland.

More than 10,000 of the top business and marketing high school students in the world gathered virtually in April to match skills and talent at the DECA International Career Development Conference. When the competitions were done, four students from the Harrison/ Great Oaks program were among the top 20 worldwide in their event.
