VEVAY - Trying to hang in the Ohio River Valley Conference race, Rising Sun baseball threw the brakes on a 3-game skid with Friday’s 12-7 win at Switzerland County. But Coach Kevin Wirsch’s Shiners (5-8, 3-3) took a hit with their second-straight ORVC setback 2 nights earlier, at home against Southwestern (Hanover), with 3 errors helping kick away an 11-6 loss.

RISING SUN - Four Rising Sun baseball errors proved costly in both an 8-4 road loss at No. 9-ranked Hauser (11-5) Tuesday, April 27, and 3-hit loss to Milan at home Friday Shut down offensively by Milan’s Indians, Coach Kevin Wirsch’s Shiners dropped to 4-6 overall and fell to fifth place in the ORVC, at 2-2, behind the fourth-place Tribe’s 4-2 league mark.
The Police Department and the Park Board gave their quarterly reports at the April meeting of the Rising Sun City Council. Police Chief Rodney Rimstidt reported the police department responded to 427 calls for service.

Over the last couple of weeks groups of Cub Scouts have been scouring the riverfront for garbage to add to their bags. Each year, the Scouts participate in the Ohio River Sweep to keep the area looking sharp and free of trash.

Back-to-back Ohio River Valley Conference victories served well to erase the memory of a 14-9 stumble at Southwestern (Hanover) Monday, April 12, in the Shiners’ conference opener.
