Chanter leads to bagpipe play

A hushed silence fell over the courthouse square on Memorial Day as the melancholy sound of bagpipes filled the air while Mark Morton, Rising Sun, entertained the crowd. Morton and his wife Lisa (Dittmer) first met on a blind date set up by co-workers on her birthday.

11-10 thriller gains sectional final

OSGOOD - Edging Class A Sectional 60 host Jac-Cen-Del 11-10 in Monday morning’s semifinal round at Bradshaw Field, Rising Sun baseball advanced to its second-straight title game that night. But Oldenburg Academy (16-7), ranked in the top 10 in the state coaches’ poll earlier this season, stopped the Shiners’ quest for their eighth sectional crown in school history - and second-straight, with the 2020 spring season canceled - with an 11-3 victory in the 7 p.m.

Honoring those who gave all

As Memorial Day was celebrated on May 31, residents of Rising Sun gathered for a time of remembrance for those loved ones who lost their lives while serving in the US Military. While most festivities were canceled last year due to the pandemic, Rising Sun was well represented to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
