Police Officer Wayne Siekman was congratulated by his colleagues on his recent retirement. Siekman has served the community for almost 30 years as an officer. He spent his first six years in law enforcement with the Ohio County Sheriff ’s Office before serving the last 23 years as a patrolman with the Rising Sun Police Department. Rising Sun and Ohio County are mourning the loss of a true community servant, former mayor and county commissioner William “Just Bill” Marksberry. He died Saturday, May 8, after an extended fight with cancer. He was 65.
Staff at the Rising Sun Education Center recently congratulated Deb Grigsby on graduating with her general education diploma, 21 years after abandoning her high school education. She completed the adult education classes online with the help of her mentor, Katie McCann Walton, who is a teacher at the center.
