Rising Sun Street Department Commissioner Paul Bovard said that he has received 15 applications from those wanting to help him this summer. His budget allows for only 10 hires, with two working for the Rising Sun Municipal Utilities.
You may know this month’s featured artist at the Community Art Center of Switzerland County. Sue Hart taught for Rising Sun schools for many years until she retired in 2010. A master artist, Hart’s work will be featured at the CAC indefinitely, but this month the limelight shines on her creative acrylic and watercolor masterpieces.
Another animal was taken to the Red Wolf Sanctuary where it was rehabilitated and will eventually be released back into the wild. A snapping turtle, named Sigmund, had been run over and suffered from severe cracks in its shell and jaw.

The Wall That Heals will get a unique escort when it comes to Harrison. On Tuesday, June 8, motorcyclists from all over will guide the wall from Versailles down U. S. 50 eventually ending at J.T.M. in Harrison where it will be on display June 10-13.
When a child is brought to YES Home in Dearborn County, the staff tries to make the transition as seamless as possible. That’s why donations like the $1,000 donation the Harrison VFW Post 7570 made recently makes a huge difference to the organization.
