A tree planted in 1992 in memory of 10-year-old Amber Garrett, who was taken from her Harrison, Ohio, home in 1991 and murdered, will remain rooted in place as demolition of the former Harrison Elementary School looms.
When Donna Engel bought her home on Bond Road in October 2019, she knew about the nearby landfill but was told nothing extreme would happen at the site. Just over a year later she joins her neighbors and other nearby residents in an effort to stop a future expansion of the Bond Road Landfill.
Dillsboro Main Street will award $8,000 again this year in matching grants for facade, awning and signage improvements in downtown Dillsboro. CSX Transportation is working along the railroad tracks on William Street in Lawrenceburg until next week. Some of the work will include removing the railroad ties. There will be intermittent traffic delays in this area. Starting the week of June 21, CSX will replace railroad ties and concrete curbing. Temporary road closures may occur that week with Elm and Vine streets open as detours for the entire project. The project is expected to be completed by June 25, depending on the weather.
