National crime show visits Ohio County

It’s not every day, or even every year, that you’ll catch a glimpse of national media in Rising Sun, but the cast and crew of “48 Hours” was here filming last week. The crew was reporting on a murder from 2014 in which Danielle Green was convicted of brutally murdering her husband, Raymond Green, as he slept in their trailer.

Ohio County Community Foundation awards grants

The Ohio County Community Foundation 2020 Perpetual Grants Program awarded the following grants: Mini-grants – An organization may request up to $100 per application with a maximum of $200 per year per organization or a maximum of four mini-grants per year totaling $200 or less. • $100 to Down Syndrome Indiana to pay for supplies, printing and postage of New Parent Packets for Ohio County residents that have a newborn with Down Syndrome or received a diagnosis of Down Syndrome before birth.

School utility bill decreases

The Rising Sun Ohio County Community School Corporation learned it saved money on its utility bill. Superintendent Branden Roeder told the school board at its December meeting the corporation’s utility bill was $75,000 less than it was at this time last year.
