Snow makes area shine

Although students at Rising Sun Schools have enjoyed a couple of snow days this winter, the biggest snowfall hit Shinetown Monday night, Feb. 8, into early Tuesday morning. The National Weather service called for about one to two inches of snow, but accumulation is estimated to be more than seven inches of snow and County Commissioners placed the county on a level orange watch travel status.

Parks’ revenue drops from 2019

Parks Director Jamie Bell recently presented her 2020 year end report to Rising Sun City Council, and it was not all good. She explained last year’s revenue was off by about 50%; the board brought in $21,496.40, a decrease of $18,570.60 from 2019, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
