Rising Sun Project Manager Mike Northcutt told the city’s Board of Works that he had received communication regarding the expiration of the Arnold’s Creek lease. The lease is generally dealt with by the Park Board, Director Jamie Bell asked as to whether or not the city would continue to mow if the lease was renewed.

At the March 25 Rising Sun Board of Works meeting, Clerk/Treasurer Rae Gipson requested the OK from board members for her and Mayor Steve Slack to review a list of potential sponsorships. Twenty four organizations have requested funding from the city for 2021 totaling just under $11,000.
A recent complaint about residential parking within city limits was reported regarding 421 S. High St. City Project Manager Mike Northcutt reported these complaints are discussed on a case by case basis.
Rising Sun Chief of Police Rodney Rimstidt said the hiring process is underway to hire two new officers for the Rising Sun Police Department. Rimstidt told the Rising Sun Board of Works meeting one new hire will replace Officer Wayne Siekman, who plans to retire in June, and the other will replace a veteran officer who plans to retire at the end of the year.
Five members of the Ohio County 4H program attended the area Livestock Career Development Event (CDE) Invitational Saturday, April 10. CJ Berkley, Ethan Markland, Owen Markland, Wayne Birmingham, and Leanne Birmingham worked as a team and placed eighth overall.
Thanks to funding from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation, the Ohio County Rescue team was able to purchase a new ambulance and cot to transport their patients. A $40,000 grant helped to pay for the ambulance and another $11,000 grant went toward the purchase of the new cot. SUBMITTED PHOTO

Lifelong Rising Sun resident Judy Courtney, who will be 78 in just a few days, has published a cookbook containing 250 of her most sought after recipes. Titled “Favorites From My Table: From Judy’s Kitchen,” the book was published by Morris Publishing Company, which specializes in cookbooks.
