Playground fun funded for all

Elementary students in Southwest Local Schools will have easier access to playground equipment this fall. To date, the school has raised $180,000 through private donations from community members and businesses for the installment of rubberized surfaces on the playgrounds at the three new elementary schools as well as ADA compliant equipment at Miami Whitewater Elementary.

Dump talk

The expansion of the Rumpke Inc. Bond Road landfill in Whitewater Township sparked discussion at four public meetings including one in Indiana. The recent purchase of 466 additional acres on Bond Road has people urging elected officials to take action.

Knights looking for new council home

The Knights of Columbus council is looking for a home. The Harrison Home Company, the land management branch of the Knights of Columbus, recently applied for a zone change from an R-0 low density annexation district to an R-4 multi-family residential district with a conditional use at 9970 Carolina Trace Road, a property it owns.
