HARRISON - The city’s Tree Board, with the suggestion from Dave Perkins of Harrison’s maintenance crew, replaced the nine hornbeam trees in downtown Harrison this fall with autumn gold’ ginkgo trees.Several of the hornbeam trees were no longer viable so rather than replace them as the board had done in the past, ginkgo were selected as the new street tree.

AURORA - Hogan Hill Baptist Church needs a new roof and a basement that doesn’t leak.Pastor Ron Bolin, 65, is working with his congregation to raise $40,000 to replace the roof with shingles and fix the leaks in the basement of the church, at 13298 Hogan Hill Road.The roof is more than 50 years old.

AURORA – Walmart was more crowded than usual Saturday morning, with 68 law enforcement members walking with children buying presents for Christmas.It was the annual Shop With a Cop, put on by the Laughery Valley Fraternal Order of Police with help from the Southeastern Indiana Economic Opportunity Corporation (SIEOC) and other volunteers.More than 300 children and parents were with the officers, shopping for clothing, shoes, underwear, socks and a winter coat working with a budget of $130 and a present for $30.
